'Perfect Match' in Toronto and Montreal
(TORONTO) – Tennis Canada and Rogers Communications Inc. officially announced Wednesday the launch of a new Concert Series to be showcased during Tennis Masters Canada and Rogers Cup. The Rogers Perfect Match Concert Series has been developed with the teen and young adult audience in mind. The concert will connect world-class tennis and music featuring some of Canada’s top musical artists.
The star-studded lineup of performances include: Default, The Trews, In Essence and High Holy Days performing at the new Rexall Centre at York University while Stade Uniprix will feature Daniel Boucher, Les Respectables, Marc Dery and Kain.
This initiative forms a winning connection between music, sport and youth culture” said Stacey Allaster, Vice-President and Tournament Director, Tennis Canada. “The Rogers Perfect Match Concert Series demonstrates how the Tennis Masters Canada and Rogers Cup have grown from leading tennis events to entertainment events held in world-class venues. The opening of the Rexall Centre and the redevelopment of Uniprix Stadium provide the perfect opportunity to broaden our fan base and introduce Canada’s youth to tennis – a perfect match.”
From the time the doors open at 5:30pm until the matches begin at 7.30pm, fans will be treated to the live concert and will also be able to win prizes, participate in SMS trivia contests, relax at the licensed bar, enjoy additional on-site entertainment and maybe even find their own “perfect match”.
The concept was created by TrojanOne, a Toronto-based event management company also managing, staging and staffing the Rogers Perfect Match Concert Series.
During both events, fans 25 years of age and under will be treated to four nights of special 2-for-1 ticket prices at the gate that include both the concert and tennis matches. For the Tennis Masters Canada event from July 27-30, 2004 at the new Rexall Centre at York University, tickets will start at $25 a pair; in Montreal during the Rogers Cup at the Stade Uniprix from August 3-6, 2004 tickets will start at $20 per pair.
